Glimpse of Belem Pillars
The Belém Tower (Torre de Belém) was built on the northern bank of the Tagus River in the 1500s by the Portuguese architect and sculptor Francisco de Arruda. Classified as a World Heritage Site in 1983 by UNESCO, this tower was originally used to defend the city.
